The Tercus HR 2022 Round-Up

“Celebrate endings – for they precede new beginnings.” – Jonathon Lockwood Huie

As we live through the final chapter of 2022, it’s often a time to reflect and take stock of the year. In recent years, we’ve faced lockdowns and isolation from loved ones whereas, in 2022, we finally got a taste of freedom but stepped out into a somewhat familiar but changing world.

As a business, we had to adapt but as we look back to January 2022, it has been a transformative year for us.

In our final blog of 2022, we’ll be sharing with you our yearly recap, showcasing some of the key blogs we’ve written this year.

5 Motivation Techniques used by Highly Effective Managers

In Q2 this year, we delved deep into some of the theoretical models associated with motivation techniques that can be easily implemented to get the best from your team.

Our personal favourite is telling your team you notice them. The simplicity of this is it’s so easy to do and can range from thanking an employee for a job well done, to giving something of value to them such as an early finish or a non-cash reward.

“Great things in business are never accomplished by one person. They’re done by a team of people.”

The World is Your Oyster

“Do we always need to be in an office to do work?” “Can we still work collaboratively in different locations?”

The pandemic hit and answered all these questions. We discovered that individuals and teams can perform whilst being in different places which have given way to new questions.

“Is this new work format here to stay?” “Can we truly work from anywhere?”

We believe the answer is yes and it’s a wonderful employee benefit to have.

We are advocates for working from anywhere (WFA) and let us show you our Nomad Policy

How Serious is Your Workplace Health and Wellbeing?

During the summer months, we shone a light on workplace health and well-being. With many workplaces now adopting a hybrid working model, you could probably count on one hand how often the team is in the office.

But how do you create an efficient workplace health and well-being environment when your employees can be elsewhere?

We love to preach about actively telling your employees to take a break as we all know work can feel overwhelming from time to time. Whether that’s taking a short walk outside or just a minute away from the computer, you’ll see the difference in your team’s well-being in no time.

How to Deal with an Unproductive Employee

A recent survey showcased that the average worker in the UK is productive for 2 hours and 53 minutes a day. Their main distractions include social media and scrolling through various news websites which can affect employee productivity each working day.

However, we want to turn this on its head. If the average worker is only productive for 2 hours and 53 minutes, how productive is a below-average worker?

In this blog, we illustrated what it means to be underperforming, the top reasons for underperformance, and the steps you should be taking to deal with an underperforming employee.

This blog was a fan favourite for business leaders and managers.
